This precious FWA family has been through so much emotionally and financially. Not only have Jennifer and Craig had to deal with Ali's illness, but Craig had a job switch this fall which led to an interruption in insurance, a whole new set of deductibles, and lapse in coverage in insurance for about 6 months. Praise God he was able to find a new job. Jennifer also had to have surgery during this time. As you can imagine, the financial toll has been great. Please consider helping the Godwin's who give so much to others if you are able. Here is a Ali's story from Jennifer:
Ali has been struggling for the majority of the year with serious emotional issues. After months of struggling and trying to handle the issues ourselves we sought help from a psychiatrist once we realized that she had been harming herself. We began the process with evaluations and weekly visits that have continued since April. She was diagnosed and is being treated for major depression and generalized anxiety disorder. In late October Ali's friends reached out and shared that they had found goodbye letters in her backpack. We confronted Ali and at this point realized she had intended to take her own life. There really aren't words to explain how this feels and what it is like to read your child's goodbye to you or watching scars appear on her over the months. We removed her from in person learning and then we have spent the last few months getting her into a partial hospitalization program and now an intensive outpatient program that we will follow with continued individual therapy several times a week and psychiatric follow ups every two weeks. We have a safety plan at home and have removed items of opportunity that can be used to self harm and we have been fortunate to get to keep her from having inpatient care. We are hopeful that she will begin to see her immense value and that this treatment plan, prayers, faith, and a lot of support from family and friends will help to get her through this.
