Sophie’s Story

Sophie was 20 years old when a headache and stiff neck landed her in hospital with suspected meningitis. She was pretty annoyed that it could end in a weeks stay in hospital but little did Sophie know that her diagnosis would end up heartbreakingly different with her hospital stay being much longer.
On 29th June 2018 Sophie was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia. Having received 5 weeks of chemotherapy under the UKALL2011 trial she was feeling well and positive. Shorty after the first five weeks of treatment Sophie was told at clinic that she needed further and more intense treatment and that leads us to where we are today. Sophie’s positivity remains but with a current blood count of 0 she has spent the past 3 weeks back on the Young Person’s Unit at the Queen Elizabeth hospital, Birmingham.
Her 2nd year of studying Biology at Chester University has been deferred and she looks forward to when she can return. 
Sophie has a long road ahead of her with 2 years of treatment but she along with her friends and family are determined to raise money for both Sophie, to help her with her journey, and the Teenage Cancer Trust (TCT), so that people just like her can continue to receive the fantastic care and services available to them. 
We are giving ourselves the duration of Sophie’s threatment to raise £5000 (£2500 for Sophie and £2500 for TCT) and we hope you will help us in this process.
