PAKISTAN FLOODS EMERGENCY APPEAL

More than 35 million people in Pakistan have been affected by monsoon conditions and heavy flooding over the last few weeks. Your help is needed urgently.

In the ongoing monsoon season, massive rains and flash floods caused widespread damage impacting over 35 million people in Pakistan. While the provinces of Sindh and Balochistan have been the most affected, all other areas and regions are affected at varying scales. Over 1000 died have died, and 1,343 people have been injured so far.

Hundreds and thousands of people have been displaced, with over 6.6 million homes washed away/damaged. Around 7.5 million livestock and standing crops on 2 Million acres have been lost so far. The rainfall continues, and the extent of damage is unfolding to an epic scale.

The Pakistani government has declared an emergency and is seeking help from the international community. Our foundation is working day and night to deliver food packs and health and safety kits to displaced families all across the region.

ARF emergency teams are continuing their efforts and are on the ground right now, working with local communities to best support affected families who urgently need food, shelter, bedding, and hygiene items. We are also committed to helping communities recover from the disaster as quickly as possible to ensure that the most vulnerable people do not continue to suffer the terrifying impact of flash floods.

During the flood emergency, there is the unavailability of proper food, water and sanitation, and there is a real lack of adequate facilities and materials, especially for women and adolescent girls during their menstruating period.

Concern supports them in managing their most basic needs at this time by providing menstrual hygiene awareness information and providing menstrual hygiene management kits containing reusable cotton cloth, disposable pads, underwear, soap and a reusable bag.

This will improve the dignity, health, knowledge and confidence of adolescent girls and women at this challenging time. The situation is expected to deteriorate with more rainfall expected. Therefore we desperately need to respond to meet the ongoing and immediate needs of those affected.
