Zahra’s Brain Cancer Battle!

Brian Fontenot, owner and operator of Cutting Edge Theatre in Slidell, Louisiana has the privilege to work around talented cast members each and every production. But sometimes, people land in his heart and stay there. Such is the case with 12 year old Zahra Perkins. Zahra was a part of the cast of “The Nightmare Before Christmas” and was a delightful member of that cast. She was part of the Zombie Band in that show. Her director, Jennifer Gesvantner, described her as a sweet, soft spoken, and a completely dedicated hard worker in the show. The cast loved being around her and her kindness and gentle spirit made her a friend to all. Part of the beauty of theatre is the family that forms with a cast and Zahra quickly became a part of the Cutting Edge Theatre family. Which is why Brian felt so compelled to step up and help the Perkins family with the battle Zahra is currently facing. 12 year old Zahra was diagnosed with a very serious form of brain cancer called Pontine Glioma. Due the the rare form of cancer, her parents are hopeful that Zahra will begin a clinical trial at St. Jude Children’s Hospital. During Zahra’s treatment they will have little or no income and that is where YOU come in... Can you imagine the worry and anxiety that comes with a diagnosis of cancer for your precious child? Can you imagine still having to pay a mortgage and travel expenses to get your child the treatment she so desperately needs? I can’t either. We know that everyone will want to ensure that the Perkin’s family can focus on the one thing that matters right now.... Zahra’s battle with brain cancer. No donation is too big or too small.
