Laila's Tales of Two Cities Trip

Hello Family and Friends,
I want to thank you all in advance for helping us to send our youngest daughter Laila Monae' King on a once in a lifetime trip to Europe for two weeks.Laila has been invited to spend two weeks in England and France as a Student Ambassador this summer with the People to People program. This was not a program for which Laila applied, nor even knew about until this past summer when a package arrived for her in the mail. As we investigated, we found out that she had been nominated by her teacher from Woodward Academy.

Some things you should know about La ila: She has maintained a 3.3 or better G.P.A. in school. She was even student of the month in November 2012. She sings alto in the Triumph Church youth choir. She is a member of the "Girls in High Heel Shoes" which is funded by the Leland Brightmore Community Affairs program.(describe what this is) Laila is very active with community service. She participates in feeding the homeless with the Detroit Meals on Wheels program, packing food for the sick and shut in on holidays such as Thanksgiving and Christmas. Laila also has an active role in The Friends and Family of Martin Luther King Apartment Community organization. In this role, she assists with weekly family community movie nights during the summer months, community clean up, neighborhood beautification, community game days, and last but not least, Laila helps with the planning of the yearly community cook out.

"Did we tell you she was only 10, Laila is growing into a wonderful young lady that will be an inspiration to future generations.
