Emergency Services for Sexual Violence Survivors

Voices Beyond Assault (VBA) is a 501c3 non-profit organization, dedicated to empowering the lives of survivors of sexual violence. VBA provides aid, resources, and innovative therapy to empower our survivors through their healing journey  and thrive past their individual trauma.

VBA is dedicated to empowering survivors of sexual assault/abuse, by building their self-awareness and self-confidence. We believe that there is strength in survival and we aim to provide our community with the aid, resources and innovative therapy methods necessary to heal from the trauma of sexual violence.  We want to create a culture of awareness, education, and prevention, through promoting a zero-tolerance act for sexual violence.

Sexual assault/abuse is a growing epidemic, which is why our year-round advocacy is so important. VBA plans to ensure that all survivors of sexual assault/abuse around the globe have access to a platform to rebuild their lives. VBA aims to provide the resources that are vital to those affected by sexual assault/abuse, through increased education and interpersonal efficient measures.

Our central goals are to:

(1) Provide a Prevention Curriculum within a wide range of public institutions, such as: (a) Schools (2nd level education), (b) Universities (3rd level education), and (c) Workplaces

(2) Combat against the issue of sexual assault/abuse globally

(3) Improve accessibility to sexual assault/abuse resources

(4) Build an army of survivors that will encourage and inspire each other from across the globe

(5) Reduce our society’s rates of sexual violence, while also ending the stigma behind it

The funds we raise will be used to provide survivors of sexual assault/abuse with the resources and innovative therapy sessions needed to heal and prosper.

The emergency services VBA aims to provide are:

1. Outreach Resources: such as, advice from health officials, first responders, legal representation (outsourced, if needs be.)

2. Educational curriculum

3. Innovative Therapy Sessions: such as, Group therapy, Self-defence courses, Yoga, Meditation, and Survivor Retreats.

At present, VBA is aware of the particular significance of our mission, as many survivors of sexual assault/abuse have experienced incremental levels of assault due to the COVID-19 pandemic. We believe it is of paramount importance to keep engaging with our affected communities during this time, to remind them that there is always help and support available to those who need it. Our global society's rate of sexual violence and domestic abuse has risen by 48% since the beginning of this global pandemic. This is hugely significant and unacceptable. The COVID-19 pandemic merely highlights the structural barriers and gender inequalities that exist within our interconnected society. Due to these developments, we need the funds for emergency services immediately. Second waves of COVID-19 are also being recorded throughout the world, and our community cannot wait much longer.

This financial aid would mean everything to both VBA and our survivors. We currently operate largely online, through as little cost as possible. This limits the impact we have on our community and the amount of effective aid we can provide. With this increase in funds, VBA would be able to increase our organization's outreach and influence throughout all of our affected communities, and be able to directly influence the rates of sexual violence throughout the globe. Ultimately, we want to build an army of survivors which possess the tools to reclaim their power, and live free and safely. We would be hugely grateful for all the help you can give, and encourage you to give as much or as little as you can. Our survivors need your help.
