help Julia afford Smith tuition hike

My girlfriend, Julia Rivers, has become an integral member of the Smith and Western Massachusetts communities since moving to Northampton last year. Over the past year, she has worked harder than anyone else I know to create a sense of community for the people around her, even while working 40 hour weeks while attending both Smith College as a full time student and The Massage School to pursue her passion for helping others heal.

This year, Smith College raised their cost of attendance, and as a result doubled the amount they expect Julia to pay, as well as doubling her loan expectation. This is something that has impacted many low-income students. In an unfair chain of events, they have REFUSED to appeal Julia’s financial aid and as a result, she will be forced to drop out unless she can come up with an additional $1500. Julia’s mother is an ONLY parent with two children, who she has worked incredibly hard for their entire life and wants to see Julia get a degree.

Julia is a wonderful, intensely intelligent, and dedicated friend, student, and employee. She deserves the best this world has to offer. Please consider challenging the system, supporting someone on the path to creating a truly better world, and donating to this campaign.
