Ammie-Leigh Gibben

Ammie-Leigh is 12 years old and suffers from Asperger's (Autism), Albinism, and Severe Brittle Asthma. She has both seasonal and allergy asthma. On a daily basis her medication includes: prednisalone steroids, slo-phillin, montelukast, cetirizine, nasonex, seritide and salbutamol (all high doses). She also has a monthly injection of omolizumab that she has to have at the RVI hospital. She is constantly in hospital having back to back nebulizers and oxygen. She is allergic to grass, trees, pollen, dogs, cats, and horses, and has on a few occasions had to have an epi-pen for these allergies. She cannot do any sort of exercise as even walking a short distance causes an attack. Her autism can cause her moods to change within seconds and she cannot control them, She can become very upset and cry for no reason, become quite violent verbally or physically. or get a bit over excited. There her 3 main moods, obviously her steroids can cause out bursts too. She's not living at the minute she's just existing and this also frustrates her.

Since Ammie-Leigh was just a few weeks old, the longest stint she has done without needing to visit the hospital is 9 weeks!! She has never been able to stay at a friends house. Her mother cares for all her needs while also caring for her son with autism, working full time running her own pub and has never asked for any help in caring for her children or having any rest bite. She's prouder and stronger than most of us will ever need to be!!


I want to raise money to give this poor little girl a better quality of life; whether finding her treatment or sending her on the holiday of her dreams!


As a result on the 1st of April 2014 I will set out to run 5 marathons in 5 days.
