Alexander The Great’s Recovery

Donation protected
When Alex was three months old he was diagnosed with Coarctation of the Aorta (a narrowing of one of the major blood vessels in the heart), and mitral valve regurgitation.  He was transported to Boston Children's Hospital where he had an emergency surgery to allow blood to flow to the lower part of his body.  His surgery was a success, however he did not recover the way the doctors had hoped.

A month later, Alex had to have open heart surgery to fix his mitral valve.  The surgeons were able to repair his mitral valve by taking tissue from the pericardium (sac around the heart) to fix the valve.  Over time the tissue will harden causing the valve to not work properly.  This along with other factors will create the need for Alex to have future surgeries.

In addition, a week after Alex's second surgery he had a series of seizures.  The neurologists were able to stop his seizures with medication.  Thankfully there weren't any signs of damage to his brain.

It's been a very difficult journey for Alex and his family.  The financial burden of the medical bills and the time spent out of work has been heavy so we've set up this go fund me account to help alleviate the added financial stress.  Thank you, Alex's family.
