Taha Memorial Fund

Donation protected
This is a memorial fund in Taha’s memory, to support causes he was passionate about on his behalf

Anyone who has ever met Taha can tell you at least one story of how Taha made them laugh, smile or generally improved their day. Whether it be his sense of humor and goofy nature or his constant willingness to lend a helping hand, Taha was a blessing to those around him.

On June 21st, 2018, 2 weeks after his 22nd birthday, Taha was forced off the road by a road-raged driver who had been following him for many city blocks. The car went off the road, hit a tree and flipped over several times, resulting in severe head injuries that left Taha in a coma for 10 days. For 10 days, Lankenau hospital overflowed with people coming to visit him - community members, classmates, childhood friends, old teammates- anyone who had had the pleasure of meeting him rushed to his bedside in hopes they had heard the news wrong. Those who couldn’t make it called to check up daily, offering prayers and positives vibes from all over the world. Many people expressed the same sentiment: “I’ve never seen someone as loved as Taha.” And it made sense - when teased about the attention from other people he would always joke, “I don’t know- people just love me! I got charisma!” with a shrug and grin. And that he did. Taha had an affable air that left him respected by the old, admired by the young and loved by all, so it made sense that people would travel from near and far to do what they could for his recovery.

On July 2nd, however, Taha succumbed to his injuries and left our world with a huge void. He was 22 - full of life, ambition and goals. It is a loss for this world that he will not be here to see those goals fulfilled but we want to do our best to fulfill them for him. We have a concept called Sadaqah Jariyah (ceaseless charity), wherein a good deed pays dividends over and over as it continuously helps others. We think it is fitting that we memorialize Taha in this way as it embodies his character and kind-hearted nature, his willingness to help others and drive to do good.

Proceeds from this memorial fund will be applied, on his behalf, to categories falling under ceaseless charity and causes that align with what he was passionate about, e.g., environmental stewardship, youth empowerment and orphan support. Select charities include Islamic Relief , Zakat.org , and New Star Kafala.

While this is just a start, we plan to grow and maintain this fund as a lasting tribute to his memory.
