A Terminally Ill Cancer Patient Raises Money To Educate The World About The Holocaust

I was diagnosed with stage four brain cancer in late 2017.

After learning about my diagnosis, I realized that I had a very serious disease with a very poor prognosis.

In short, it is highly unlikely that I will live more than a few years.

After undergoing chemotherapy and radiation, my husband asked me what I wanted my legacy to be.

While I am suffering with a glioblastoma now, I have been actively involved in holocaust education for much of my life and I decided that I wanted to create a foundation that will educate this generation and future generations about The Holocaust.

This information will be disseminated by books, videos, exhibits and by guest lectures by historians, filmmakers and scholars who focus on The Holocaust.

As I explained to my children, theirs is the last generation that will have the opportunity to meet living holocaust survivors and it is important that this tragic chapter of history is never forgotten.

My interest in the holocaust began as a young girl. My father’s business partner and his wife came over for dinner and I noticed that they had numbers tattooed on their arms.  I asked them what these were about and they explained how they were tattooed in a concentration camp.

A few years later, I began volunteering at a Jewish home for seniors.  I would entertain the residents by playing my guitar and by singing Yiddish folk songs to them.

As an adult, I have done the required research to add almost one hundred people into the database at the Yad Vashem memorial museum in Jerusalem.

So, if you have some feelings or interest in supporting this important cause, please make a donation.

Thanks for listening to my story and thanks in advance for your help and support.  We look forward to spreading the word about the history of The Holocaust through the variety of media mentioned earlier.

Thanks for all of your support so far! We have been working with a representative at Yad Vashem  and will being donating $5,000 to the organization in the next month!

We plan to continue working with this organization on our mission to promote Holocaust education and will keep you all posted on progress!

Per GoFundMe policy, our withdrawal plan is as follows:  We will be withdrawing into a bank account under Jay Granat and then writing a check to Yad Vashem, where we have been actively working with a Director to ensure that the money is put directly to the educational arm of the organization
