Help Save Our Cattle in drought

Our small 130 acre family run farm is in Bowral, in the NSW Southern Highlands and has been in the family since the 1950’s.
We are a primary producer of beef and generally run around 50 head of cattle, though due to the drought, our numbers have significantly declined by more than 50%.

Unfortunately, due to the current drought situation, we have run out of feed. Our stock numbers have dropped and the cows we have left are beginning to have their calfs.

Most of our cattle are thin and putting what little energy they have into feeding their new babies. My husband works full time, though I am currently 7 months pregnant with our first child which has made finding employment impossible at this time, this we rely on the income of the farm to get us by.

Our current situation is taking its toll on both us and our cattle, and we just hope that our supplier is able to provide us with feed each week, though we are unsure how long this can continue and can only pray for rain over the coming months so that the grass can begin to grow.

We have sadly lost a pregnant cow and an additional calf due to being malnourished and many of our cows are begging to look like skin and bone. We have decreased our herd numbers, losing valuable blood lines and genetics, but no with no other choice the hard decision needed to be made.

Any help would be much appreciated and 100% of donations will go towards feed for our cattle. Thank you.
