Help Tim Recover

My father-in-law, Tim, is one of those salt-of-the-earth men that you rarely meet anymore. He and his wife raised four wonderful children, worked hard (working two jobs at times), and maintained a hobby farm that has been in his family for more than a century. Most of all, he is kind-hearted, funny, and a great father and grandfather.

Sadly, tragedy struck just before Christmas when he had a stroke on December 19. Living in a rural part of Iowa, he had to be flown to a larger hospital in South Dakota for treatment. He has suffered a brain bleed and swelling on the brain. He has also suffered some brain damage, although we do not know to what extent yet.

Even at 65, Tim continued to work hard every day at his job at UPS, for which he has worked for more than 20 years. Now Tim's work is to focus on recovering and healing so he can be there for his family for many more years. This will mean lost wages from his job for the foreseeable future. His wife, LuAnn, is a special education teacher's assistant, but she will not be able to support both of them on her salary. Tim does have disability insurance, but it will only cover 60% of his income, and they were barely making ends meet before the stroke.

Your generous donations will help pay for Tim's many medical expenses, to compensate for lost income, and to cover LuAnn's lodging expenses so she can stay near Tim's hospital. Most of all, your donations will allow Tim and LuAnn to concentrate on Tim's recovery rather than worrying about expenses.
