Hi Donna. I wish I was writing you for other reasons. Unfortunately this is a tragedy. I was walking all of the dogs in a county park yesterday. Bailey come upon a rattlesnake and was bitten. I rushed her to my vet where they tried to stabilize her and called the Jupiter emergency veterinary hospital. (Rattlesnake anti-venom is very expensive and expires so only the emergency hospitals keep it in stock.) They brought the animal ambulance and anti venom to Stuart where they started treatment. Bailey was then transported to Jupiter. The doctors there are keeping track of her vitals 24hours a day. They also have an oxygen chamber that helps with the recovery. Last night she had to have a blood transfusion which has seemed to help. Unfortunately with snake bites, there are no guarantees due to so many different variables. The next 24 hours are still critical. The main reason for this email was a hope that we could some how do a fundraiser for Bailey. Her medical bills are about $5000.00 at this point. Depending on what happens from here, that could change.
