Lung transplant recovery

I need a double lung transplant within the next year according to my doctor at Duke. I have to lose 20 more pounds to get where they want me to be for surgery. I have lost 30 lbs in a little over 2 months. I have a genetic disorder that has caused this problem. My mother passed away from it in her mid 50's. I do not like to ask anyone for anything. I have always provided for myself and my family but I believe this will be to much for my wife and I. I learned early in life to take care of myself and not to depend on others due to being in the foster care system. I would appreciate anything. Thank you all.
