Kailia AVM Recovery Fund

Donation protected

Count yourself truly privileged if you are one of the many who knows our precious niece Kailia Spahr. She is one of the most sweet, happy, and generous little seven year old girls in this world.

Her bear hugs have the power to simply take away life’s problems in a moment. Anyone who has received one of these hugs can testify to this.  Kailia’s non-stop singing and dancing, her beautiful smile, and big brown eyes show such love for life!

Kailia always has a lot to say. Especially every single morning….there is no sleeping in with our Kaipu….. Nope. She is always ready to start the day!  Jehovah has surely given this beautiful girl an amazing outlook on life!

It saddens us more than words can say that our sweet girl is now fighting for her life. 6 months ago Kailia was diagnosed with a large Arteriovenous Malformation (AVM) in the deepest part of her brain. An AVM is a tangle of abnormal and poorly formed cluster of veins, arteries, and blood vessels. They have a high chance of bleeding compared to normal vessels. AVMs can occur anywhere in the body. Brain AVMs are of special concern because of the damage they cause when they bleed.

On Sunday June 9th, one of these blood vessels ruptured while on a family camping trip in Bend, OR. Kailia became unresponsive after enduring a lengthy non-febrile seizure. She was rushed to the closest hospital in Bend where they had to remove a piece of her skull to relieve pressure on her brain caused by the rupture. From there, our precious Kailia was flown to OHSU Doernbecher. She remains at Doernbecher in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit.

You can imagine how frightening this must be for her parents. It is beyond heart breaking to feel so helpless for your child. Her parents, Shane and Vanessa continue to be by Kailias side every moment of this tragedy. This means they must temporarily step away from their full time jobs to care for their baby girl.

While there is Medical Insurance, we ALL know that it is never enough. No one is ever prepared for something as heartbreaking as this to happen. We are reaching out to you with this GOFUNDME account to help with the expenses that are slowly accruing.

If you would like help support Shane and Vanessa care for their precious daughter …please make a donation. We know that money can be tight, so please know that even $5 helps. Please only donate what is reasonable for you. We do not want this to become a hardship on anyone. Even if the only thing you can do is share this link with others it would be greatly appreciated.

Kailia and her parents have a strong faith in their God Jehovah and in his word the Bible. Their faith helps them to understand why such terrible things happen in this world. Ecclesiastes 9:11 reminds us that unforeseen tragedy can happen to anyone at any time.  2 Corinthians 1:3,4 reminds us that we can always draw comfort from our heavenly father and in turn, we can pull together and support and comfort one another with love at times like this. Let’s try to live as if we were looking thru the eyes of Kailia….Lets be Positive, Loving, Generous, and give each other those amazing bear hugs that Kailia taught us all as we wait for the fulfillment of God's promise at Revelation 21:4 to take away the pain of sickness and death FOREVER!
