Aaron’s Recovery

Donation protected
Aaron’s sister Serena here. Aaron was involved in a head-on collision tonight on winding mountain roads near Weaverville. Someone driving the opposite direction veered into Aaron’s lane, causing the accident.

The other driver’s truck caught fire, and although Aaron was injured, he jumped out immediately to attempt to rescue the driver - cutting his seatbelt and pulling him out of the cabin before the truck was engulfed in flames.

It is possible that a medical emergency caused the driver to veer off course. He was sadly pronounced dead on the scene when emergency personnel arrived. Our grief and prayers are with his family.

For Aaron, the accident resulted in multiple broken bones (mostly in his feet), fractures, dislocated bones, contusions, etc. Walking will be very difficult, as he is not able to put weight on one foot, and the other foot’s big toe had a nasty compound fracture. He is currently unable to use crutches due to hand/thumb injuries.

As many of you know, Aaron is currently self-employed with his rafting business, Redwoods and Rivers. He had just finished a Fathers and Children trip and was out on a grocery/fueling run for another rafting trip when the accident took place.

Unfortunately, Aaron is without health insurance, and will be paying for any ER bills and follow up Orthopedic visits out-of-pocket. These injuries will also likely take him out of the rafting guide role for the foreseeable future.

I’m hoping to raise this amount for medical and living expenses as he recovers. Thank you so much for your thoughtfulness, encouragement, and generosity.

Note from Aaron:
Aaron would like to thank those who literally are holding down the fort for the guide school that had just begun it’s first day of swift water rescue training with an amazing group of women when the accident took place. Grateful to Clayton and his Dad for running camp safety and management along with with legendary rafting sweetheart/badass Wanda, and stud of a camp chef & rafting guide Brian. They will continue to keep things afloat and adventuring as additional seasoned guides generously step in to instruct.
