In January 2018 Preston, my grandson, developed a rash on his lower stomach. Most of the rash want away but there was one spot that kept growing and eventually it had to be removed. His parents got a call that they wanted them to go to UNC pediatric oncology for further tests. They did a biopsy and diagnosed it as lymphomatoid papulosis, a non cancerous skin disorder. On their second visit at UNC they discovered he had very swollen lymph nodes and decided to do surgery to remove them for a more extensive biopsy. They removed 3 lymph nodes and found the same cells as his outside growth. When those cells are found inside the body there is a chance it could be lymphoma. They did a PET scan to make sure all the infected area was removed and they discovered multiple other spots in his stomach. After six months of tests he was finally diagnosed with Anaplastic Large Cell Lymphoma (ALCL) ALK-negative. Preston is facing a six month battle with chemotherapy with 6 days in the hospital for each treatment and then three weeks off in between. He will be having his treatment at UNC Chapel Hill, NC. Please consider helping us raise funds to assist Preston and his family with all these unplanned expenses. Most of all we ask for your prayers to give everyone the strength to help Preston with his battle. When someone has cancer, the whole family and everyone who loves them does too.
