Teaching in Guizhou Summer 2014

Having been presented an opportunity to spend two and a half months in China, I consider myself incredibly lucky to be able to not only see and experience a different culture but to make close-knit relationships with members of the Guizhou province.

During my stay, I will be teaching English to the under-served students of the area, offering them an escape from the conditions of poverty that plague the region. By learning an internationally used language such as English, the students will be able to open doors to potential jobs in fields such as Computer Application, Hotel Management, and Marketing.

However, because this teaching opportunity is not funded, I am reaching out to both friends and family to help me realize this goal. Expenses include but are not limited to transportation costs internationally, as well as within China, food, basic necessities, etc. While I do not expect to reach the listed monetary goal, every little bit helps and is more greatly appreciated than any text description could even begin to describe. Furthermore, if under any condition the monetary value were reached, any excess or unspent funding would go towards funding similar work the year following my graduation in 2015.
