Hurricane Ida Disaster

Hello world! My name is David and while this is hard for me to ask, here it is: I need help.

I live in Lockport, Louisiana and our little town was just decimated by Hurricane Ida. Unfortunately, my home was one of many that received substantial damage. Right now me, my wife, and my two children are living in a camper in the southwest Louisiana area because our home is unlivable.

As you can see from the cover photo, the roof is completely damaged. However, what you cannot see is the water damage inside the house, likely as a result of the roof damage. Nearly every room has water damage to the ceiling with the heavier damage concentrated in our living room and wash room. Our back patio also received tremendous damage in that we lost part of the awning and nearly half of the rest was blown out, leaving our attic exposed.

I was a coullion and didn't carry any insurance. I rolled the dice on self insuring myself and lost. This is a gamble that I should not have made, but will learn from this experience to never let it happen again.

I have set a goal of $10,000 to help me offset the expenses of the needed repairs. However, any amount that you can give will me a bit of hope in an otherwise bleak time.
