Hello Friends,
Our family has decided to start this campaign to raise money for medical expenses for the treatment and care of our father, Dave McConnell. Our dad was diagnosed with a malignant Glioblastoma brain tumor in late February. He was given 3 months to live if he selected to not treat the tumor in anyway and 1-3 years, with and average of 14 months, if he decided to treat the tumor with surgery, radiation, and then chemotherapy. Anyone that knows dad knows that he is a fighter and that he was going to select the second option. So, on March 1st dad underwent the 4 hour procedure to remove the tumor from his brain. Dad made it through the surgery successfully. However, due to the location of the tumor dad was left very weak on his left side. He is unable to use his arm and leg. A couple days after surgery he was transferred to a rehab center which is where he is now. The reason we are starting this campaign to help dad and mom is because the insurance compny is no longer willing to pay for dad to be in the rehab center and they may not approve of his chemotherapy treatments due to his age and prognosis. Our mom can not physically attend to dad the way that it is necessary so he needs to stay in the rehab center/nursing facility so that he can have the around the clock care that he requires. This means that they will have to pay out of pocket for him to recieve his care and treatments. Being that they are already on a fixed income this is going to be very difficult for them. Mom has had to limit (basically quit, but only work enough to make ends meet) her hours at work in order to be there with dad. We are in need of help from people like you since the insurance company will no longer support the care of dad. Cancer is a terrible, terrible thing and you never really know the effects it has on not just the person affected, but the entire family. It is emotionally, physically, and financially draining. We will be forever thankful for any prayers, well wishes, or donations you would be willing to make on our family's behalf.
