Victim of Domestic Violence

Donation protected
On August 9 2017 Shalan Cazier was strangled / smothered by her husband and her injuries are extensive. She has brain damage from lack of oxygen and the Drs said her baby, who she was pregnant with, also could have problems, if he lived. They said that we should abort the baby and asked that we sign a DNR for her. They were told no. Shalan was in the hospital from August 9,2017 to March 28, 2018. Darius, her boy was born March 20th. He left the hospital on the 26th and Shalan came home on the 28th of the same month.

The parts of her brain that was damaged left her unable to do anything on her own.
She can no longer walk, she can’t sit up or turn over. She can’t go to the bathroom so she has to wear a diaper. She has had some physical therapy and can move her arms a bit but she looks like she has Cerebral palsy. She can’t talk or eat. She has a feeding tube in her stomach. She has had some speech therapy and they started to teach her how to swallow, so with supervision Shalan can eat applesauce or sip some juice or water given to her with a straw.

Shalan can’t be left alone. If she chokes or throws up she could die because she can’t turn over.

Her baby,Darius, was a surprise to the Drs. He has no physical deformities. He looks so perfect, but he is deaf in his left ear and wears a little hearing aid. He is such a happy boy. We are so grateful to have him.

We have taken sole responsibility for Shalan and her four kids, including Darius the newborn baby. We are no longer able to go into town or to church. Shalan cant be left alone, and family members can’t always be there. A transport van or some other means of cheap transport would work but all the available options are very expensive. The hospital bills that insurance did not cover are outrageous.

Any help to make Shalan’s life better would be greatly appreciated! Thank you all!
