My First Kindergarten Classroom

Hi there! My name is Ashley Marquez. I have recently accepted a Kindergarten position at a Title I school in northern Virginia. This has been my dream for a very long time. I get to work with students who I believe need the most love and support and I get to directly influence their lives in the most rewarding way possible.

While I know working in a Title I school can be difficult and is definitely not for everybody, I believe with everything that it is in my calling. Despite the challenge it poses to many, I wouldn't want to work anywhere else. Some of the children have felt more heartache and endured more struggles by the 3rd grade than many haven’t felt or suffered in their entire life. I believe the students at Title I schools need all the love and support that they can get and extra, and I know that when I am teaching them, I am able to see the difference that I make in the children, and it's the best feeling in the world.

I want what is best for my future students, but I could really use your help. I have created a GoFundMe campaign page in an effort to build my classroom's resources, supplies, and environment. I want my students to feel welcomed, engaged, and safe. I have already saved a lot on money for my return to the states from Taiwan, but along with moving home, there is still so much I need for my classroom. All I'm asking is for a little help, even if it's just a Facebook share. I am thankful for any support I can receive.
