Help Shelley Fight Cancer

Donation protected
Please pray for Shelley Henderson Pozzi. On August 16th, Shelley was diagnosed with Stage 4 breast cancer. Her back had been hurting since May - she believed it to be more of a disc issue. When the pain got awful in mid-July, she got an MRI. Doctors found cancer all over her axial skeleton. The cancer is metastatic, meaning the cancer originated somewhere other than Shelley's bones. Because of her age and health, her body has tolerated this pretty well, and doctors believe she has probably had cancer for several years with no side effects until recently. Methodist Hospital in Houston has been excellent thus far.

After a bone scan, Shelley will begin radiation for two weeks. As part of her treatment plan, she will also receive shots and other medicines for the remainder of her life. We pray that her body responds rapidly to the treatment.

As this journey begins, Shelley and Jonathan (her husband of 20 years) are overwhelmed with love from their family and friends. Your kindness and prayers mean more than y'all can know. They’ve been incredibly grateful that their children, Michael (age 14) and Jacob (age 11), have been able to maintain their normal routines so far, but we know there will be many challenges in the months ahead. Both Shelley and Jonathan have their graduate degrees from Texas A&M University. They now make their home in College Station. Shelley is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Biochemistry, Biophysics, and Molecular Genetics and Jonathan serves as a Business Coordinator in the Department of Biomedical Engineering and the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering.

As everyone offers their continued help, it would be best to have a designated place for all of Shelley’s supporters to assist. We ask that you share Shelley's story and contribute to her cause as she fights this uphill battle. Thank you in advance for your prayers and generosity, and God bless.

We will be updating this page periodically as Shelley continues to fight.

"Therefore, we are always confident and know that as long as we are at home in the body, we are away from the Lord. For we live by Faith, not by Sight.” 2 Corinthians 5:6-7
