My medical journey

Donation protected
My name is MaKenna Cooper, I’m currently a sophomore in high school, and have been running cross country since 7th grade. I’ve had experience with multiple Orthopedic doctors because of knee injury’s, ever since then I have been extremely interested in that field. My goal is to help people who have experienced any Orthopedic issue. I would like to help people from the education and experience that I will gain during this program to help them recover based upon my personal experience as a cross country runner by physical therapy or by surgical procedures. I also have been volunteering at a local hospital for two years to get closer to my goal. Recently I’ve been nominated by my school Guidance counselor to attend the National Youth Leadership Forum: Medicine, I want to expand  my knowledge of orthopedics, in order to help people and get closer to my goal. The National Youth Leadership Forum: Medical program lasts for nine days, and provides hands on learning, like learning how preform stitches, taking blood, using advanced technology, watching a surgeon preform a real surgery, and re-enacting a medical scenario. This program will be taking place at my college of choice, which is the University of North Carolina. Ultimately this go fund me account will hopefully give me the opportunity to gain education and experience to provide the necessary healthcare to make sure that whoever I treat in the future will get the best care that I can provide.
