My name is Stephanie Richards and I am looking to raise funds to cover the costs of my future mother-in-law’s funeral and burial expenses. On Friday, April 27th, 2018, Marrissia “Marie” Ruth suddenly passed away a mere five days after celebrating her 57th birthday. She left behind a loving husband (Anthony “Tony” Ruth), three children (Dale Nye Jr., Shannon Greene, and Ryan Ruth), three grandchildren (Kira Greene, Giana Greene, and Emily Nye), and dozens of friends and colleagues who loved her dearly (including myself). This tragedy came out of nowhere and the Ruth family was not prepared, emotionally or financially, for such a light in their life to suddenly be extinguished. I am creating this page for them because they are in desperate need of help…

Marie loved life. She was always spirited and enthusiastic; constantly pursuing new and exciting things to fulfill her sense of creativity and adventure. Of the many things she enjoyed, she was an avid photographer and jewelry maker and loved making crafts with her grandchildren. As of April 26th, she was happy and outwardly healthy; full of life and excited for the new job she was starting the next day and the latest Avengers movie she was going to see with her family (in celebration of her birthday) the day after. However, tragedy struck the Ruth family and Marie did not get a chance to do either. She passed away unexpectedly in her sleep that night. At this time, we are still unsure of what caused this and are waiting for autopsy reports to come back for an answer.

To say that we are all hurting would be an understatement. The Ruth family is a tight-knit one and losing Marie so suddenly and so soon has turned their world upside down. It took every ounce of strength they had to get through the planning, wake, and burial of the wife and mother and grandmother who had been such an integral part of their lives. We all hoped that the suffering was over, but unfortunately, that was not the end of their misfortunes. Shortly after these events, the Ruth family was notified that Marie’s life insurance had been canceled years ago by the insurance company without their prior notification. The insurance company was contacted in an attempt to straighten things out, but they were told that there was a “gap in their records” due to a change of systems and they could not supply him with a copy of the cancellation notice to confirm. Because of this, the Ruth family was left with a nearly $19,000 bill (see itemization below) that they do not have the means to pay.

As someone close to this family, I have watched them suffer day after day since Marie’s passing. They are such a kind and loving family and they didn’t deserve the agony that was suddenly thrust upon them. Unfortunately, we can’t change what happened, but we can help ease their burdens during this difficult time so that they can put their focus into healing. Every little bit will help, no donation is too small. If you can’t spare any funds, please share this page so that others can hear their story. Please keep Marie and her family in your prayers.
Thank you for reading this and for your support.
