Help!My Last Teacher Credential Semester

Donation protected
Hi friends/comrades and others,

This Fall 2014 semester should be my last semester in my secondary education credential program at San Jose State University. For the upcoming semester I will be a her/history high school teacher. As far as I know I will be teaching three or four classes. An exploitative part of this program is that I will be teaching without pay. Due to this being more than a full-time job (new teachers typically put many more hours than an experienced teacher because they need to develop many lesson plans and get the hang of teaching/"classroom management") and because I need to take a couple of classes and do the PACT to get my credentials it is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED not to work.

As a working-class, UNDOCUMENTED person (I have employment authorization under DACA) I need your help to accomplish my goal of becoming a high school maestro/teacher. I know I will accomplish this because I belong to a loving and supportive community. As a community we have struggled to create a better world and I am hopeful that you will suppport me.

Since the age of seven I have lived in the highly immigrant and working-class neighborhood of East San Jose, CA. I attended public schools in the east side, and after four years as an organizer for a non-profit and a union and almost two years helping folks with their DACA/immigration processes I am embarking in my new journey. As a teacher I will use what I learn as an organizer to EDUCATE, AGITATE/INSPIRE and MOBILIZE my students. I will also teach skills to my students so they could employ the latter strategizes to organize their peers and me.

My tuition will be around $4,400. I am expecting to receive university aid which should cover two-thirds of my tuition. I applied to over 15 scholarships, but I have only hear back from one that I am receiving for around $250-$500. With the small savings I have I will only have enough to cover my tuition.

I need you help to cover my living expenses and other school-related expenses like buying books for my class/students that the school will not cover. Typically for rent I give $600 per month. I hope to stop working at my current job in late July in order to get ready to start teaching. So from August 2014 to sometime in late January I will not have an income!!! This is really scary!

Any question please contact me.
