Liver Failure: Help My Dad Beat the Odds

Three weeks ago my dad was put in the ICU with liver failure. They gave him 24 hours to live when we first got here and he has now beaten the odds. I was told by doctors that his recovery so far is next to miraculous (he went form being unconscious and on a breathing tube to breathing on his own, writing, kidney function boosting) but we still have a long way to go. His liver, kidneys, and lungs are getting stronger day by day but we are still in the ICU.
Thankfully, he has medical/medicare to cover his hospital bills but there are other bills piling up for both of us; rent, utilities, etc. As his advocate it is important for me to be here; sometimes he is not able to speak and they need me to make quick decisions. My work (I'm an art teacher at a preschool) has been extremely understanding that I need to be with my father during this time.
My dad's name is Casey Lewis. He is a long time member of the art community. Originally from Kansas City Missouri he moved to the bay area in the late 60s. Over the past 35 years he has worked with all sorts of art mediums. He is an experienced stained glass, collage, and pastel artist. He has hit some very hard times with the recession over the past five years.
We need some help. As someone that tries to only ask for help when I really need it I'm coming forth to ask for some during this time. I know that times are tough for everyone right now. Truly, anything helps. Also, please feel free to share this anywhere you can that you think might help.
