Dawn's Medical Fund

I am posting this, Go Fund Me campaign for my sister Dawn. Dawn is a well-loved, outgoing woman with a vibrant personality. She brings significant joy to the lives of everyone she encounters; however, Dawn has been battling an undiagnosed skin condition for the past year and a half. Her symptoms include loss of hair (including eyebrows), the protrusion of tiny fibers from her skin, her skin and scalp developed sores which were so irritated that her skin began to bleed causing scarring, and she even lost her fingernails. The symptoms ultimately caused Dawn to be a recluse. She no longer enjoyed any social life but more importantly, she was unable to work, unable to properly take care of her two children, Gianna & Gabrielle, and unable to pay for some basic expenses. Dawn is an Aesthetician and a Massage Therapist working in a med spa, and due to this debilitating disorder, she was obviously unable to perform forcing her to take a hiatus from work.
Then in June 2017, Dawn went into the emergency room with severe stomach pains including constipation and vomiting. She was in Stoney Brook University Hospital and they kept her there for 9 days. They performed every diagnostic test under the sun and in spite of her condition worsening, they had no diagnosis! She discharged herself only to have an ambulance called for her a few days later by my mother. She was taken to another hospital, St. Catherine’s...thankfully. They performed a CT scan and found the culprit, a tumor in the large intestines…colon cancer! Not what she expected…now things were starting to make sense. At this point she can’t leave the hospital; she was scheduled for emergency surgery to remove a large portion of her colon with the tumor.
I saw Dawn a few days post-surgery; she had lost 40 pounds and to this day doesn’t even remember seeing me. Dawn is facing some very challenging weeks and months ahead. After her discharge, she was ordered bedrest for the next three months. Also, she will follow up in 6 months for colostomy reversal surgery. Amazingly, the symptoms of her skin condition appear to be diminishing!

Dawn was always a hard worker and always provided for her two children and household expenses, but the bills, as you can imagine, continue to pile up while one is unable to work for a period of months. She needs this money so that she can pay her obligations while allowing herself the time to obtain effective treatment, additional opinions, and the time necessary to rest and rejuvenate her body.

Her smile can illuminate the darkest of rooms. Dawn is that person who can make your day better with a simple text, smile, or emoji. With all the love and happiness she has provided others, she is sincerely in need and deserving of assistance from her friends, family, and fan base right now. Please consider a donation to help her so she is around for her children for many years to come.

Thank you in advance for your consideration and God bless!
