Last year one of our student's mom was diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer and she passed away less than 6 weeks later. This young man has always been a giver; to his community - donating time and talents to our local Rec Center, to the school - donating his D.J. talents to help host dances and other video/computer productions, and to other people - I have never seen a kinder, more compassionate friend to other students and adults. This young man is in need of a new laptop so that he can keep his grades up (he missed lots of class due to his moms passing), and so that he can get upgraded "D.J" software and accessories to continue to provide what he calls a "quality dance experience for our school". This young man plans to go to college in the computer music and technology field.
*** I forgot to add that he didn't just say out loud what he needed - he wrote a very moving and personal essay (which I won't share), he wrote a moving and personal letter (which I would share) and he made a detailed budget for this project! He was asking our school administration for help (which they were unable to grant due to factors beyond their control). We have been working on this project for some time now.****
I had to ask for this amount as GOFundMe does take a small cut and the site that writes the actual check also takes a small cut. The price paid to be able to have all of us help a little!
These funds would be used to pay for a new higher end laptop, D.J. headphones, programming software and hardware, and an external hard drive for the project.
