Help! I need hernia surgery!

Hey, thanks for checking out my medical fundraiser! I am a small business owner of a bicycle shop (Brooklyn Bicycles in San Diego) that has no medical insurance. I have an inguinal hernia that is stopping me from running my shop the way I want. I strive for good customer service and community outreach, which is severely compromised from the pain from my hernia. I can not lift bicycles into the stand and work on bikes anymore. If I pull money from my business I jeopardize the loss of it.

I am raising money for the surgery, transportation rental fees and other costs such as pain medication.

I hope to be operated on by a surgeon that specializes in the type of hernia surgery I want. It is the more affordable, less problematic style of surgery. Here is a link that discusses the type of surgery I am interested in:

I have a surgery consult in the middle of December 2013. I would really love to be able to go into that appointment with a portion of the cash needed for the surgery to happen.

This hernia has hindered not just my business but my riding, my lifelong passion. I commute to work by bike and I want to get back to enjoying all kinds of riding. I really miss rides with friends (whether personal or professional). I want the Brooklyn Bicycle rides to come back!

At this time, I suffer through the shortest part of my commute, with public transportation for the rest of it. Sadly, public transportation in San Diego is cumbersome and expensive....I WANT BACK ON MY BIKE!
