Amaanah Refugee Services
Amaanah Refugee Services is on a mission to integrate resettled refugees into their new homes and communities. We are driven by a vision to transform the life of every refugee resettled around the world. Amaanah currently serves women and children through two programs: The Awesome Academy (designed to provide school-based academic and social support), and Transformed (designed to acclimate single mothers into their new environment).
Home Transformations
Home Transformations are an opportunity to give the surprise of a lifetime to single mothers who arrived through the refugee settlement process. The Transformed team works to identify families in need of this service and then treats them to a much-deserved day out with their family while a team of volunteers renovate and beautify their home!
Who We Serve
Amaanah Refugee Services is specialized in providing long-term services to women and children that arrive through the resettlement process. Transformed is designed to acclimate single mothers into their new environment. We achieve this by coaching Transformed mothers to fulfill their comprehensive needs. Amaanah’s team works closely with each other for 10 months to create and implement a Transformation plan that gives attention to areas such as financial management, employment, language, transportation, and housing.
The Event Day!
On Home Transformation Day, the Amaanah team coordinates a two-part day: taking the Transformed family out for a day of fun while simultaneously working with a dedicated group of volunteers to transform their home. During the event, volunteers spend their day cleaning up the house, building new furniture, painting the walls, and decorating the house with basic necessities as well as new goodies!
Your Impact
The Home Transformations are a way to show our new neighbors that there is support for them in the Houston community. Their house can be their home, and there is hope for a better life. Volunteers have a chance to get to know the families they are serving and build on a sense of community so that we inspire each other to be positive role models.
