Dear Generous Contributors,

We have planed a field trip to Tillicum Village, WA for our 4th graders for the past seven years,  This year we have encountered an obstacle for funding.  This field trip is a great experience for our students.  We are a Title 1 school with 100% free breakfast and lunch.  Our student population as of May 2017, was 605; 58% Hispanic, 11% Black, 10% Caucasian, 9% two or more races, 6% Pacific Islander, and 5% Asian.  This field trip enables our students to experience our Native American Culture of the Pacific Northwest.  At Tillicum Village, we experience  salmon cooked traditionally on ceder planks. There is a performance of cultural beliefs and traditions. This all takes place in a traditional Long House.  The students also experience a boat ride from Seattle to Blake Island.

This is a life time experience for most of our students. Our students are unable to afford this field trip without the contributions of our PTSA, and fundraisers that the fourth graders are involved in throughout the year.   Even with these attempts to fund this field trip, we find our self in need of financial assistance.  Without help, our students will not be able to have this extraordinary experience.

With rising costs the total cost for this field trip is $6,616.  We have raised $2,231.94.  The cost per student would be $61.  Our families would not be able to pay this amount for a field trip.  The charge for the charter bus is $2,800.  This is our need for your generous donations.

Here are some statements from students that who attended Tillicum Village last year:
TG, "Their carvings were very unique and the performance had optimistic words."
JP, "Very delicious food. Performance was very historic and fun."
RD, "Tillicum Village has good food. My Favorite was the salmon."
AD, "There was a big stage and we got to see the performers after."
WD, "I liked the performance and the island.  There was a lot to do there."
SZP, "i enjoyed learning some history. The food was so good."

Without your generous donation, we may have to cancel this "Once in a lifetime experience" for out students.

Thank You in advance for contributing to this amazing experience for our fourth graders.
