Lyn's Fight Against Lymphoma

My name is Carmina Pellegrino. My younger sister Lyn in the Philippines has been diagnosed with Hodgkins lymphoma. It's cancer of the lymphatic system that greatly affects her immune system. I, too, battled breast cancer just over a year ago and was lucky enough to be living in a place where there is a very good health system. I am in remission now but am still struggling to go back to work. I am appealing to everyone to please help me help my sister, who puts her 2 children first, especially her son, before herself. Her 8 year old son has autism. Therapy for him is expensive enough in a country where important services are not readily within reach. And now that she's stricken with cancer she is struggling to get funds for her own treatment in order to live longer for her son who needs her for the rest of her life. It took almost 2 years before Lyn got a diagnosis. Her first symptom was itching. She went to a dermatologist and had blood tests done and turned out normal. But the itching persisted so she again went to another dermatologist but the doctor didn't find anything wrong with her skin. It was when she lost weight significantly that she went to an internist. And the internist ordered a chest X-ray and that's when a mass was found on her lung. After another CT scan it was found to be enlarged lymph nodes. She had that biopsied and turned out to be malignant. Days after that she grew a lump on her neck. More tests were done and on April 6 my sister has been diagnosed with stage 4 Hodgkin's Lymphoma. Her oncologist ordered chemotherapy which will consist of 6 cycles with 2 treatments per cycle, plus CT scans, more blood work and a PET scan that will cost about almost 10,000 USD, any additional treatment she might need shall her cells refract from the initial prescribed treatments. We wholeheartedly thank you for every peso, cent, and dollar, every share of this campaign, and every little word of prayer for my sister. Lymphoma is treatable. Even at its late stages this disease can be beaten. Life is precious, especially for people like her. So please help my sister fight Hodgkin's Lymphoma.
