Help Fund For Gretchen Garrett

Most of you know my daughter, Gretchen as a bubbly, energetic and happy person always ready to help anyone at the drop of a hat. Last year, “Bird” as I’ve called her since she was little, suddenly and without warning woke one morning to crippling neck and back pain. Fast forward two months ago. Thanks to the impossibly long wait times of Medicaid it took almost a year for Gretchen to gain approval for a full radical disk replacement. Her neurosurgeon just shared with us the sobering news that it could be six months before she fully regains use of her hands and arms. According to what we’ve been told unless she can stay relatively immobile and down for another month or so the inflammation around her new “parts” will simply continue to aggravate the nerves in her back and arms causing extreme numbness and in some areas searing pain. No matter how old our children are, it’s still heart breaking to watch your child suffer in pain. Gretchen tends to say, the one thing she DOES have is time and she’s very patient. She has worked tirelessly on trying to obtain Social Secrurity disability approval, ANY state/federal “help” programs, even investigating career retraining programs. She’s worked with advocacy representatives, preformed good luck dances and would gargle with peanut butter if it would help make a difference. To date, gofundme and the mercy of others have been the only things keeping her above water. This fund helps cover her bills, food, essential toiletries and uncovered prescriptions. So many have given to Gretchen so generously. I again plead for you to consider opening your hearts and offering any donation as the stress bearing down on Gretchen financially is causing her panic, anxiety and brutal sleeplessness.
