Please Help This Family

Hello, My name is Renée and I am creating this for a very good friend and her family. I went to high school with both Matt and Sarah. They’re going through a hard time right now and could use a little help from us! Both of them are just trying to get through these medical issues with their family and home intact. Their family consists of a teenage daughter that lives with her mom in New York. They also have a 12 year old daughter and an almost two year old daughter at home with them. They also have a new daughter due in August 2018! All girls! Matt is an industrial painter and Sara is a stay-at-home mom whom is currently nurturing a very high risk pregnancy due to ICP. They’re loving family that is dedicated to their children one another and God.The family moved from Florida about 3 years ago to Michigan after Sarah had a serious life-threatening illness that she was hospitalized for first time for 2 weeks. She made a miraculous recovery and was able to carry and birth their youngest daughter in May 2016. In November of 2017 the family was informed of a gas leak and their rental property that led to the entire family being diagnosed with carbon monoxide poisoning. They are all very lucky to be alive! At a follow-up appointment for the carbon monoxide poisoning, the doctor found a large mass on Matt's neck. After diagnostic testing Matt was diagnosed with malignant neoplasm thyroid cancer. His prognosis is good and the doctor believes they can get all of it removed in one surgery. Matt is scheduled for surgery Thursday April 12th to remove the entire thyroid and after surgery the tumors (1 large, 2 small) will be sent to pathology to determine the next step. Chemo does not seem likely! However, radiation will be started about 6 weeks after surgery. Matt will need to live separately from the family while undergoing radiation treatment because it could cause harm to the children but most of all to the unborn baby. Radiation therapy could last anywhere from 3 to 21 days depending on the pathology report. Matt will need to be out of work anywhere from 2 to 6 weeks following his surgery to recover. He will then need to be off work again during the radiation treatment therapy. He is also a Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma cancer survivor! He has been in remission since 2002! The family recently bought a fixer-upper home that needs a lot of work. They were planning on staying in their rental property until the bulk of the work was done. Unfortunately the family had to move out of their rental and into the home because the County inspector also discovered black mold in the apartment. Please keep the family and all the medical personnel and workers especially the surgeon in your prayers. If you are able to donate anything that would be amazing as they could sure use the help right now from us!
