Keldan's Recovery After Accident

Donation protected
August 18, 2013 my youngest son, Keldan was traveling home from work on a moped (wearing a helmet) when a drunk driver took a left hand turn into him. Keldan and the SUV struck head on. Keldan was unconscious at the scene and rushed to Denver Health Trauma. I was at home in North Dakota when I received the call and left on the longest drive of my life. Keldan had suffered a severe traumatic brain injury and his jaw was severely fractured in two places. The initial prognosis was at least a year to two year recovery and there was no way of knowing to what extent his recovery would reach. He was on a ventilator, feeding tube and had a brain monitoring device drilled into his head to monitor swelling and pressures. He had several small bleeds on his brain, a bigger bleed on the upper right portion of his brain and shearing across the top (like baby-shaken syndrome). He was unconscious in the SICU for a week. After he regained consciousness, he was transferred to recovery for another week and then he was transferred to Craig Hospital. It was been a long three months and we have had so many blessings. Keldan is at his home here in Denver and is doing very well, thank God and thank everyone for the prayers and support...thank Keldan for being such a fighter. He's started back to school part time! It's been three months since either of us has worked and the bills haven't stopped and the medical bills are starting to pour in. I have not left my son's side and attend his therapies with him three days a week. I have lost my job in North Dakota and am looking for employment here in Denver but it's going to be challenging considering all the work Keldan still has left to do - he cannot drive right now. Any type of help we receive will be used for rent, bills, gas and groceries. We are not destitute but I'm starting to get a bit nervous. Thank you, bless you.
