My name is Shantanu Sharma and am a Nepali currently living in Nepal. I suffered a spinal cord injury in February 20, 2016 a day after coming back from the United States where I was doing my bachelors in Psychology. Ever since that day, I have been a recovering paraplegic. I am paralyzed from the waist and below. I have no control of my muslces below my injury level. I have gained some control some levels below my injury site which is like middle back. It is my lower ab muscles, but below that I cannot move a muscle and live my life on a wheelchair. Even then, I promised myself and my family in the hospital when I was hospitalized that I will not stop until I am fully recovered. I have always been looking for treatment options and recently I found one place in Bangkok called Unique Access Medical. I got in touch with them over skype and talking to them I realized they have proven themselves to be legitimate and worth pursuing their treatment. They told me the best treatment for me would be stem cell therapy plus epidural stimulation. All the patients that they have done this on have had imporvement towards their recovery. There was recently a story of a guy from this place called Andrew Bell. He had complete spinal injury at t5 level which is worse than mine, but with this treatment he can stand for an hour with minimal support and walk on his own with some support. The doctor there told me with my effort I will likely be able to use my leg muscles, stand, and walk with support. The surgery will be done by the best neurosurgeon there who also looks after the royal family there. If I got the chance to do this this I have so much fire inside of me to unleash that I will unleash that to recover further and walk with no support one day. My biggest passion in life is soccer and I was a college soccer player and having both college and soccer taken away from me due to this injury has shattered me, but I believe with your help and me getting this treatment and rehabilitating It can reach my dream of walking and hopefully be able to play soccer one day again.
The only problem is the staggering cost of the treatment which extremely high for me and my family to afford: $85,000. My family will do all we can to pay as much as we have including the travel expenses, but I really need your generous help. This is why I am doing this fundraiser and I will forever be grateful for anyone who could contribute however much they can towards funding my treatment and making my dream come true of walking again one day with my legs. I promise you can count on me being there for you as well.
