Kidney for Kellen

Hello to all my amazing friends and family! Firstly, I just want to say thank you to everyone who has shown support or kindness to my family this past year. As many of you know already, my husband, Kellen is in serious need of of a new kidney. The past few months have tested our limits and pushed us in ways we never expected. Juggling the day to day balance of life with 5 teenage boys and a sick significant other has been emotionally, physically, and spiritually taxing. We couldn’t do it without the love we have for each other and the support from everyone around us. As most of you know the organ transplant process can be an incredibly straining and a time consuming process. In a few short months it will be a year since Kellen has been on the transplant list. In the past year of our journey we have ran into many obstacles. Unfortunately, we are fighting a losing battle with our health insurance. With Kellen needing 8 hour home dialysis and many other expensive medications it’s been really hard to maintain stability especially during these unprecedented changes to our daily lives that COVID-19 has brought. The ultimate goal we have is for Kellen to receive a transplant as quickly as possible. The sooner we can get a transplant the sooner we can get back to having the best and healthiest version of Kellen. I’m turning to all of you for any kindness or help you may be able to offer. Some ways you may be able to help are by sharing this post, getting tested to see if you may be an eligible donor, or helping out with whatever you can financially. Every couple of months we travel to the Ohio State University medical center to get updates on Kellen’s transplant and care. The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center has provided us with a transplant social worker whom you may contact for details regarding organ donation. Kellen's blood type is O+ please consider.
