Show Some Love For Tule

On Sunday July 8, the sweet boy we all know fondly as Tuley McFatpants took a trip to Cornell for a severely bloated abdomen and vomiting. It was initially diagnosed as food bloat and he came home that night. The following morning his mom knew something wasn’t right and took him back in. They decided to keep him overnight and to run some tests throughout the day. Following lots of tests, blood work, X-rays, and ultrasounds, Tule was diagnosed with acute pancreatitis. On Tuesday morning, it was also discovered that he had a touch of pneumonia as he had aspirated some of the vomit into his lungs. He was then placed on antibiotics in addition to a plethora of other meds to regulate pain and to get his digestive tract moving. The following day, as he was showing no signs of improved digestive motility, he was anesthetized and following an endoscopy, his stomach was emptied and flushed. Another endoscopy determined that there was no blockages hindering digestive movement. A feeding tube was also placed in his neck at the time so that he could get some real food back in his belly. On Thursday morning, Tule took a turn for the worse and he gave a real scare in which doctors were unsure if he would pull through. Luckily he bounced back and although still very sick, lethargic, and in pain, is showing slight signs of improvement. Unfortunately Tule won’t be able to come home until his digestive tract is moving and he is no longer regurgitating, therefore doctors estimate a few more days in the least. Although his mom has two jobs, footing a bill of over $5,000 will be no easy feat.
