Over the last few years Bobby fought valiantly with complications from diabetes and heart disease. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and he didn’t want this disease to take him down. Bobby, being the stubborn fighter he was, spent more years with his family than doctors thought possible. He was a true miracle, making regular visits to his granddaughter’s house and his loving family in PA in spite of his health.
Bobby chose to continue his fight and have a needed amputation of his lower leg. While fighting through this emotional decision and surgery with an already weakened heart, it was difficult for him to recover. He passed on March 28, 2018. Bobby will be remembered as a loving, loyal friend and family man who was always there for his loved ones.
Bobby leaves behind his loving wife Doreen, daughter Danielle, and granddaughter Shaelagh, his pride and joy whom he loved with all his heart.
This family has been through so much. Just two years ago Doreen was fighting soft tissue cancer. She won her long battle and beat this very rare disease, however, the treatment took its toll and she is now physically impaired. During this time neither Bobby nor Doreen could work because of their health issues. Initially they were told they qualified for insurance and that’s what they would use to pay for Doreen’s treatment path. Nearly a year later a review by the insurance company found that because of Bob’s retirement fund which was missed by them, they actually did not qualify for the insurance and it was revoked. Therefore all the money that was put towards her care (treatment, multiple surgeries, many long weeks of overnight stays in the hospital and home care) needed to be paid back. This wiped out their entire life savings and then some. Since then they have literally been living day by day. Bob’s current medical costs have made this a very difficult situation for Doreen financially.
