School for Refugee Children
UPDATE: We met our goal! We have successfully provided a laptop and supplies to this newly organized school started from nothing! Donations have also gone towards providing books, supplies, food and clean water. We are now working towards getting a solar charger for that laptop, as you can imagine there is little infrastructure and keeping it charged is an issue. We have $100 left to go to meet this new goal.
Please help me to support my friend Ferdinand Bilombele Tchakubuta. A refugee since childhood from the Democratic Republic of Congo, he came of age in Tanzania, where it is not legal for a refugee to live or work outside of the camps. There are many who are born and die in these refugee camps, living their whole lives in a state of limbo. With nothing to his name and himself unable to obtain any kind of status in Tanzania even though he grew up there, he chose to make the dangerous journey to Uganda, where there is a brighter hope to be able to become recognized as a refugee and move forward to pursue his dream of furthering this own education while teaching others. He was unable to continue working as a teacher in Tanzania without citizenship, but since arriving penniless in Uganda, he has literally created his own classes to teach the poorest children, and is now working to build an actual schoolhouse to better serve them. School supplies are a luxury in the camp, where even clean drinking water can be difficult and expensive to obtain. Please help me to help my friend. He has accepted this challenge to use any assistance to in turn help many others. It has been astounding to watch him overcome a seemingly endless series of obstacles while developing his passion for teaching and inspiring the most vulnerable and disadvantaged children in the camp. Every single dollar goes to helping him help others. If we each give just a little, together we will accomplish a lot!
