Semester abroad serving at GIS

Let me start this off by saying God is incredible. My name is Ben Overholt, a former missionary kid from the US who grew up in Chiang Mai, Thailand for 17 years. I also am a Grace International School alumnus from the class of 2015. Being a TCK (third culture kid) has had its positives and negatives but I am certainly glad God blessed me with the life that he provided and continues to provide me.
Where am I now?
I am currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s of Science at Cornerstone University studying Exercise Science with a minor in Coaching. I have recently been provided the opportunity to go serve in the country I was raised in and the school that developed me as a Christ-follower. I have had pivotal spiritual and athletic mentors in my faith walk during my time at Grace. I now feel called to be one of those mentors. Being a GIS alumni and TCK gives me a huge head start at becoming a guide for these students as I have already been in their shoes and have asked the same questions they probably are asking now. I would hope to bring encouragement and my experiences from college to help guide their paths and in their walks with God. In the Spring semester (January-May) 2019, I will be offered the opportunity to serve as an intern in the Athletic Department, to be a light to the students and to impact the Grace community for Christ. All I can really ask is for your prayers as I prepare for this journey. However, any form of support is appreciated as I make the transition back home. I praise God for this opportunity as He continues to provide, and I love Grace!
