Jennifer Sweets is one of the most loving, big-hearted, best friend a person could ask for. She is happily married to Chris Sweets. Together they have 4 children: Logan in College, Delaney in High School and twins Aynsley and Ian in 1st grade. She is known for her enormous amount of energy, ability to run a busy household, work very long hours in her career and yet she is always the first person to help others. For those who don’t know, Jennifer was admitted to hospital last Saturday with kidney stones and dehydration. While in hospital she underwent surgery to remove the stones but developed sepsis, a very serious blood infection. She took a fairly rapid turn for the worse while there and as of today, she is still in the ICU. They have aggressively treated the sepsis with multiple antibiotics, which is helping. Praise God. The big focus now is getting her platelets up, getting her into a non-jaundice state, and doing what they can to increase her ability to breath on her own. Meanwhile, she has also developed pneumonia. They have increased her oxygen levels but she is still unable to get out of the bed to walk or even sit in the chair. It came as a complete shock to her family and friends as we thought her simple ER visit quickly morphed into a variety of medical challenges. Knowing our Jen, she is fighting hard to overcome the obstacles so she may return home. She can not speak because it strains her lungs and she can not text or email. Her husband Chris is fielding many phone calls and texts but please be patient. While he is thankful for the concern, he may not have the ability to get back you to at this moment. He sometimes needs to unplug as he wants to be at her bedside to provide Jen with as much emotional support as possible. Jen’s sister, Buffy is driving from Cobb county each day to be with her in the hospital and she is helping to keep the house clean. There is a meal-train going on if you feel so inclined. Right now, Jens’s parents are here from FL and taking care of the kids. Huge praise to them for being here so quickly and doing so much to help. Chris is spending as much time as he can, at her bedside but it is really taking a toll on him. He also started a new job and will soon need to go back to work. The kids are being very tough and accepting of help by people they already know or who they are comfortable with. Unfortunately with Jen still in ICU, she is unable to have visitors at the hospital or flowers sent. If you want to help, I will post a link to her meal train site. Another way to give is to mail them gift cards from local restaurants or Target, Walmart, for Chris to use if he wants to stop somewhere on his way home from work. They have also approved us starting this GoFundMe page to help them with the enormous medical bills that are adding up daily plus the change from a 2-parent working household to a 1-person income. Some of Jen’s friends have asked if they could pay for a housekeeper but her sister Buffy wants to take care of that. Thank you for taking the time to read this. If you want to help but are unable to help in other ways, a donation through this site would be an amazing way to show your love and support. No donation is too small. The road to her complete healing make take a while to happen. Her return to work will be even longer. If you are unable to make a financial donation, please consider praying individually or forming a prayer chain. She needs all of the spiritual support we can provide. Even a card with an encouraging message would be so nice for lifting her spirits. Thank you, Bonnie Davis
