Hi,
We are Ricardo and Tati, the proud parents of Tatiana Concepcion. After years of academic challenges, obstacles & concerns, my wife and I suspected that there was more to be understood of this bright child's short comings in school. Sure enough, after a couple of evaluations, it was concluded that Tatiana has a learning disability.
Tatiana enjoys school but has to try much harder than your "average" child. You see, Tatiana has been diagnosed with Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder (ADHD). This is a condition that causes her to be figity, highly distracted and impulsive. On the contrary to what many people believe about ADHD, she is a sweet heart has no behavior problems and doesn't run around class crazy. In fact, her challenges are as simple and significant as a bird flying past the window while she hyper focuses on it; tuning everything else that is important out.
Why does she need your help? Her school has failed to meet her academic needs by providing an adequate environment conducive to her learning abilities and disability. They will make recommendations to place her in a setting that the very same school evaluators have established will not benefit her performance. We, as concerned and informed parents will reject that recommendation and file an appeal.
The very complex laws that govern education (on a state by state basis), are extremely difficult to navigate. Just getting to where we are now was a cost incurred retaining an advocate who specializes in Education law. As this case progresses, so are the demands.
In just one week we will need to secure a third party evaluator and retain our advocate for the appeal portion of the case. The Costs are roughly $6,000 for the evaluation and $3,000 for the advocate. We expect to fulfil this amount within the next 3 weeks. We are more than willing to provide ANYONE with justification of expenses as well as paid invoices uploaded as we meet each charitable milestone. These two expenses are all that we have.
This campaign is truly the biggest request we have had to make. It has caused us to put aside money saved for our first house as well as my cancelling college courses to afford all this.
We know that you care for Tatiana. Thankfully, we have many many friends that we are sure will support. We would like to stress that EVEN a $5 donation would go a long way.
