Matthew Makes It Through

Hey everyone, my name is Eddie Koshar and I am raising money for my awesome brother Matt Koshar who is currently receiving chemotherapy treatments for cancer. Matt is 34 years old, lives in Willowick, Ohio, has a wonderful son named Owen, a beautiful wife named Krissie, and he is nearing the end of a long journey through college for which he has plans to graduate this fall. He enjoys playing guitar, being a student of psychotherapy specializing in art therapy, and spending some with his family and friends.Matt's journey with cancer began in January 2016 when he was diagnosed with testicular cancer. His prognosis was very good after he had the affected testicle removed. Matt was receiving recurrent PET scans for the next few years that all showed no further traces of cancer. Needless to say, our family was very relieved. However, in March 2018 after a routine PET scan, we learned that the cancer was back, but this time it had moved to his lymph nodes in his groin. The doctor's assured us that it was localized to the groin and radiation to the area would get rid of it. A few days later Matt received a chest X-ray that showed that the cancer was not localized to his groin, but that it moved up his abdominal aorta and into the lymph nodes of his chest. The doctors informed us that this type of cancer they found could not be treated traditionally, and would require multiple different chemotherapies over a short course of time. Where we stand now, Matt has received his first week of chemo and is currently neutropenic and receiving broad spectrum antibiotics and a special diet to limit the risk of further infection. I understand that not all of us have an over abundance of money to give away, and the current economy makes most of us live paycheck to paycheck. However, if you are in the position, I ask you please to donate as much or as little as you can afford. The cancer has already forced him to push off graduation and made him unable to work, so this money will be for the support of his family and the extensive medical bills that his treatments will create.
