Transitioning After A Sudden Loss

On the evening of Monday March 5th, after what appeared to have been a normal day, I got home from work and was informed by Ali that his dad Jamal, my father in law, was in the hospital after complaining of a headache. Without the doctors knowing, later that same night, Jamal suffered a life ending stroke. By Tuesday morning when we arrived to see him, he had lost all brain function and was on life support. Wednesday morning, Ali, along with his family, made the devastating decision to say goodbye to their father, husband, grandpa, Uncle, and friend. Jamal passed peacefully Thursday morning with two of his very best friends by his side. The sudden and unexpected death of Jamal has left his widow Angie, and 18 year old son, in an unforeseeable circumstance. Angie didn’t have time to prepare for the transition into a single income household, and with their youngest son still in high school, she has found herself in a terribly hard and uncertain place. We’ve been blessed with an abundance of homemade food and frozen meals, grocery store trips, and flowers. We are so grateful.
