For The Love Of A Nurse

I met Tracie Lentz a few years ago as she continued her nursing career with us in the Surgical ICU at the University of Michigan. I have come to admire Tracie as a mom, a nurse and I feel so blessed to call Tracie my friend. There is a bond that few understand that happens between nurse friends. I guess it's because of the strains and triumphs we experience daily at work. We feel the undeniable need to help and support each other. And on March 10th, that feeling for Tracie overwhelmed me. Tracie had made a doctors appointment for a slight ache in her stomach. Hours later, tests revealed that Tracie was in trouble, she had cancer! I recall the shock and pain I felt when I had received a similar call about my son 3 years ago. There are no words to describe the intense emotional pain that explodes in your chest hearing those words. Tracie now understands and is beginning her journey to conquer cancer. The Doctors are awaiting her bone marrow results to confirm their suspicions of CML (Chronic Myeloid Leukemia). As you can imagine, treatment requires tests, procedures, expensive chemotherapy and hospital stays. All these add up to thousands of out of pocket costs that , quite frankly, she shouldn't need to worry about. Tracie didn't think of this potential problem though. She thought about her family. Her wonderful husband Phil and their 2 beautiful children, Bennett and Hazel. Tracie is a devoted mother and wife and takes pride in caring for her family. I want to help her with that. So I ask, please take a moment, say a prayer and think about donating to Tracie and her family.
