Meet Alex Ardizzone.  Alex is a 26-year-old young man who is an inspiration.  Why is he an inspiration you may ask?  Well, Alex has fought his way through life and has never thought of it as a “fight.”  At the age of 18 months, he had to have his first liver transplant.  At first, everything seemed fine and his body responded well.  Unfortunately, as time went on the liver became toxic to his system and he had to undergo a second liver transplant at the age of 3. Stefanie, Alex’s mom has always made sure that he took his appropriate medication, and thankfully that operation was deemed a success. Then at the age of 10, Alex had a seizure.  After many doctor visits, Alex was diagnosed with Epilepsy with grand mal seizures.  A grand mal seizure causes a loss of consciousness and violent muscle contractions. It's the type of seizure most people picture when they think about seizures.  Alex was put on anti-seizure medicine in addition to all his immunosuppressants. Living with all of these medical issues and setbacks Alex always remained such a sweet, gentle and loving person.  He was a hard worker in school and as a young adult.  Whether at work or at home, he was a bright light in everyone’s eyes. This past February, Alex’s liver began to show signs of failing in spite of all the medications he had been faithfully taking.  Alex spent over 6weeks at Jackson Memorial where the nurses and doctors tried everything including liver dialysis.  Most of the time that he was in the hospital he was alone because Covid-19 had struck and no visitors were allowed, not even his mom.  Imagine being 26 and going through all of this alone. All of this brings me to today.  Thankfully, Alex is home with his loving family.  However, Alex’s fight is far from over.  He is very weak as a result of his failing liver and is currently is taking upwards of 15 medications, while he awaits a liver transplant.  These medications total co-pays of over $600 and that is not all.  Alex needs to get weekly blood work done with a co-pay of $150, plus all the doctor visit co-pays.  In addition, they have all the bills from the 10 weeks stay at Jackson where many tests and procedures with various doctors were completed.  Last, don’t forget about the money he will need for the actual transplant.  This is where YOU can help.  Help support Alex in this fight.  Please become one of Alex’s Allies and take some of this overwhelming burden and added stress from Alex and his family.  TOGETHER WE CAN HELP ALEX!
