Shiner's Medical And Support
Shiner had an esophageal resection in March 2017. While the surgery was necessary, it left him with severe scar tissue that inhibits him from eating. Since March 2017 Shiner has 20 dilations, 2 stent placements, several hospital visits, and a G tube placement (feeding tube). Shiner has been approved through the Compassionate Care Act to trial a special stent from Italy, and will be the first in the patient to trial this. Shiner is expected to continue to need medical attention through his life, but we're hoping less intervention will be needed as time passes. For the time being, treatment will remain constant, and it is expensive! We travel to Houston to see his surgeon which means gas, hotels, and food expenses, as well. We have a deductible to meet before this procedure, and the whole amount is required at once. He will be in the hospital for at least 7 days for monitoring. After the procedure, we're hoping for the best, but there is still talk of another intense and invasive surgery. Please donate to help our family and Shiner out. We try our best, but we need a little extra help.
